Richard L. Klein, President

Mr. Klein joined Xenogenics in December 2010. Mr. Klein had served as President and Director of Medlogics Device Corporation, an interventional cardiology company, since co-founding it in August 2002. Mr. Klein has raised $35MM in equity and debt financings for Medlogics since its inception. From October 2001 to May 2003, Mr. Klein also served as Corporate Counsel for Bioheart, Inc. (myocardial regeneration), and Director of Biopace, Inc. (stem cell-based treatment for arrhythmias). Prior to this, Mr. Klein was co-founder, Chief Operating Officer, General Counsel and Director of MitraLife, Inc. (subsequently acquired by ev3, Inc.) from May 2000 to July 2001. Mr. Klein successfully completed MitraLife’s $2MM Series A preferred stock financing. Mr. Klein also served as Vice President and Chief Patent Counsel for Medtronic Vascular from January 1999 to May 2000, and as Vice President and Chief Patent Counsel for Arterial Vascular Engineering, Inc. (subsequently acquired by Medtronic, Inc.) from June 1996 to January 1999. Mr. Klein holds a B.S. degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a J.D. degree from the Southwestern University School of Law. Mr. Klein is a member of the California and District of Columbia Bars. He is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and is admitted to practice before numerous federal district and appellate courts.

Nicolas Chronos, M.D., FACC, FAHA, FESC, FRCP, Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Chronos is President & CEO of Saint Joseph’s Translational Research Institute. Dr. Chronos received his degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in London in 1987, and trained in cardiology and interventional cardiology at the Royal Brompton National Heart and Lung Institute. In 1992, Dr. Chronos was awarded a British Heart Foundation International Fellowship, and moved to the USA to continue his research in thrombosis and interventional cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Chronos was named Director of Research at the Andreas Gruentzig Cardiovascular Center at Emory University Hospital in 1997. Dr. Chronos is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London), Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, and Fellow of the American Heart Association. He is a practicing Interventional Cardiologist for the Atlanta Cardiology Group at Saint Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta, and is an Adjunct Professor of Cardiology and Medicine at Duke University.

Gerald Newmin, Chairman & CEO

Mr. Newmin currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Acting Chief Executive Officer of MultiCell Technologies, Inc. Mr. Newmin is also Chairman and CEO, and a director of Xenogenics Corporation, a majority-owned subsidiary of the Company; Chairman and CEO, and a director of MCT Rhode Island Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company; and, CEO and a director of MultiCell Immunotherapeutics, Inc., a majority-owned subsidiary of the Company. Mr. Newmin has managed NYSE and American Stock Exchange Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Newmin has been President of Health America Corporation, then the nation’s largest publicly held HMO management company. Mr. Newmin was Chief Executive Officer and President of The International Silver Company, a diversified multi-national manufacturing company that he restructured. Mr. Newmin was Chief Operating Officer of numerous Whittaker Corporation operating units. Mr. Newmin has a Bachelors degree in Accounting from Michigan State University.

Anthony Altig, C.P.A.

Mr. Anthony Altig has served as a director of MultiCell Technologies since September 2005. Mr. Altig serves as the Chair of the Audit Committee of the MultiCell Technologies. Mr. Altig has extensive experience in financial management, strategic planning and financial reporting primarily with biotechnology and other technology companies. Mr. Altig is presently Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of BioTix, Inc. Mr. Altig previously was Chief Financial Officer of Diversa Corporation a leader in providing proprietary genomic technologies for the rapid discovery and optimization of novel protein based products. From 2002 through 2004 Mr. Altig served as the Chief Financial Officer of Maxim Pharmaceuticals, a public biopharmaceutical company. Prior to joining Maxim, Mr. Altig served as the Chief Financial Officer of NBC Internet, Inc., a leading Internet portal company, which was acquired by General Electric. Mr. Altig is a certified public accountant and is a graduate of the University of Hawaii.

Stephen Chang, Ph.D.


Dr. Stephen Chang has served as a director of MultiCell Technologies since June 2004. Dr. Chang joined the New York Stem Cell Foundation in 2010 after serving as Chief Scientific Officer of Stemgent upon the company's founding in 2008. He was previously the CEO of Multicell Technologies and continues as a director of this company. Prior to that, he was the CEO of Astral Immunotherapy which was acquired by Multicell Technologies in 2005. Previously, he was chief science officer (CSO) and vice president of Canji Inc. / Schering Plough Research Institute in San Diego from 1998 to 2004. He has also held senior management positions at Chiron and Viagene. Dr. Chang is president of CURES, a coalition of patient advocates, biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical companies, and venture capitalists dedicated to ensuring the safety, research, and development of innovative lifesaving medications. He is also a board member of Histogen, Inc., a privately held company in regenerative medicine. Dr. Chang earned his doctoral degree in biological chemistry, molecular biology, and biochemistry from the University of California, Irvine.

Thomas Page, Ph.D.

Mr. Thomas Page has served as a director of MultiCell Technologies since September 2003. Mr. Page is Director Emeritus and former Chairman of the Board and CEO of Enova Corporation and San Diego Gas and Electric Company (now part of Sempra Energy). Prior to the formation of Sempra Energy Corporation as a holding company in 1996, at various times Mr. Page was SDG&E’s chairman, president and CEO and held one or more of these positions until his retirement in 1998. Mr. Page joined SDG&E in 1978 as executive vice president and COO. In 1981, he was elected president and CEO and added the chairmanship in 1983. Mr. Page has been active in numerous industrial, community and governmental associations and has funded medical research. He is a director of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation, Community National Bank, Sys Technologies and is an advisory director of Sorrento Ventures. Mr. Page earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering, a masters degree in industrial administration and was awarded a doctorate in management, all from Purdue University. Mr. Page has been licensed as an engineer and as a certified public accountant (CPA). Mr. Page also serves on the University of California Presidents Council on the National Laboratories.

Edward Sigmond

Mr. Edward Sigmond has served as a director of MultiCell Technologies since May 2000. Mr. Sigmond has been in sales, marketing and operations management for the past 20 years. Mr. Sigmond has served as president of Kestrel Holdings, Inc., a holding company, since its inception in 1997. Mr. Sigmond served as president of Kestrel Development, a Texas based real estate development company, from 1993 to 1998 when it was dissolved. Mr. Sigmond studied Marketing and Chemistry at Duquesne University.

Nicolas Chronos, M.D., FACC, Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board

Kathryn Uhrich, Ph.D.

Dr. Uhrich is Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, and is Dean of the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at Rutgers University. Dr. Ulrich's research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of biocompatible polymers for medical and dental applications. Dr. Uhrich’s invention of Polymer Drugs, such as Poly Aspirin, are novel polyanhydrides that hydrolytically degrade into salicylic acid (or related drug molecules) which can locally reduce post-operative inflammation and pain. Dr. Uhrich’s technology has been exclusively licensed to Xenogenics for interventional cardiology applications by Rutgers University. Dr. Uhrich received her Ph.D. from Cornell University, and was a Research Fellow at Bell Laboratories and at M.I.T.

Eberhard Grube, M.D., FACC

Dr. Grube is a renowned interventional cardiologist. Dr. Grube is Chief of Cardiology and Angiology of Heart Center Siegburg, Germany. Dr. Grube is Professor and Chair of the Cardio-Pulmonary Function Division, Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory, and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the University of Bonn School of Medicine. Dr. Grube also serves as an Associate Professor of Cardiology at the University of Bonn School of Medicine; and is a Consulting Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Grube completed his fellowship in Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery at the University of Wisconsin Medical School. Dr. Grube received his doctorate in medicine from the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelm University in Bonn, Germany. Dr. Grube completed his Internship at the Ev. Hospital in Bonn, Germany, and his residency at the Medical School of the University of Bonn.

Spencer King, M.D., MACC, FESC, FACP.


Dr. King is the Fuqua Chair of Interventional Cardiology at the Fuqua Heart Center of Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta and Clinical Professor of Medicine at Emory University. Dr. King is also chairman of the American Board of Internal Medicine’s subspecialty board in interventional cardiology. Dr. King received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and specialized in internal medicine and cardiology at Emory University. Dr. King was director of the Andreas Gruentzig Cardiovascular Center of Emory from 1986 to July 2000, President of the American College of Cardiology from 1998 to 1999, and President of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions from 1990 to 1991. He is also a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and the American College of Physicians. Dr. King serves on the editorial boards of several professional journals, including Circulation and The Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and he is an editorial consultant for The New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. King has published more than 400 articles, directed numerous symposia, and co-authored or edited seven books including the 2001 edition of Hurst’s The Heart.
